Rob Overton is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in both engineering and sailing. Currently serving as Vice President at SmartCrane LLC since May 2000, Rob has spearheaded the development of patented crane controls for expedited container ship loading. Concurrently, Rob is a long-standing member and Chairman of the US Sailing Racing Rules Committee, contributing to the review and drafting of international sailing regulations since January 1993. As a Sailing Rules Consultant and Lecturer from January 2000 to February 2024, Rob provided expertise on racing rules matters. Previously, Rob held the position of Senior Associate at Daniel H. Wagner Associates, focusing on mathematics applications in naval planning and crane automation, and served as Mathematics Department Chairman at Virginia Wesleyan College. Rob holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College.
