Preston Thompson

Preston Thompson is an accomplished software engineer with extensive experience in application infrastructure and data engineering. Currently serving as a Founding Engineer at Useful since October 2022, Preston previously worked at Braze from July 2014 to April 2022, where roles included Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer II. Notable achievements at Braze include leading the transition to Kubernetes, designing a declarative GitOps deployment service, and introducing modern data streaming technologies such as Kafka. Earlier career experiences include a software development internship at Braze and technology associate internship at Bridgewater Associates. Preston holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earned in 2014.
