Jose E. Cavazos

Jose E. Cavazos, MD PhD, is an accomplished clinician-scientist and educator specializing in epilepsy, currently serving as Associate Dean for Research and Assistant Dean for the MD/PhD Program at UT Health San Antonio, where Jose E. oversees a growing program of 40 MD/PhD students. With a background that includes directing the ACGME-accredited Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship and leading the Research Education Core for the South Texas Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Cavazos contributes significantly to both medical education and research. As a tenured Professor of Neurology, Neurosciences, and Physiology, Cavazos has previously held leadership roles at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System and co-founded Brain Sentinel, a biomedical device company focused on seizure detection technology. Educational credentials include an MD from Tecnológico de Monterrey, a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Graduate Certificate in Health Administration from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
