Gualbert Oude Essink has extensive experience in the field of hydrogeology, specializing in water in coastal zones and the implications of climate change. Since June 2002, Gualbert has served as a Specialist at Deltares, focusing on fresh-saline groundwater research. Gualbert holds the position of Associate Professor at Utrecht University since April 2014, where research is initiated on hydrogeology in coastal areas and fresh-salt groundwater dynamics in deltaic regions. Additionally, Gualbert has been a Visiting Lecturer at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education since 1999, teaching on groundwater flow and numerical modeling. Previously, Gualbert conducted research at the Free University Amsterdam on EU projects and served as an Assistant Professor in hydrological transport processes at Utrecht University. Gualbert completed a PhD in Hydrology and Hydrogeology at Delft University of Technology, with research focused on the impact of sea level rise on coastal groundwater flow.
