Mario Avila

Faculty Director - Center For Social Ventures at Vanderbilt University

Mario Avila serves as an Assistant Professor of the Practice of Management at Vanderbilt University - Owen Graduate School of Management, focusing on entrepreneurship, social enterprise, and impact investing since November 2018. Additionally, Mario holds positions as an Adjunct Professor and Faculty Director of the Center for Social Ventures, and is the Founding Director of the Turner Family Center for Social Ventures, which fosters socially and environmentally responsible leadership. As an investor with Alumni Ventures and Chairman of the Vanderbilt Credit Union, Mario contributes to innovative financial solutions and community engagement. Mario's entrepreneurial experience includes founding Contigo Financial, which targets the subprime lending industry, and serving as CEO of Emerge Financial Wellness. Mario has also held various roles in social impact and consulting, complementing an educational background that includes an MBA from Vanderbilt University and a BA from Dartmouth College.
