Steffen Wischmann

Steffen Wischmann is an accomplished professional in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, and innovation policy, currently serving as Head of Section at VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH since January 2013, overseeing initiatives in AI and the data economy. Wischmann has extensive experience coordinating R&D programs for the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, leading cross-sectoral studies, and supporting start-up competitions. Prior roles include Senior Consultant at the Institute for Innovation and Technology and EPFL, where responsibilities encompassed project management, research, and teaching. Wischmann obtained a PhD in Theoretical Biology from The University of Bonn and an MSc in Biology from Saarland University, complemented by research positions at revered institutions including the Max Planck Institute and Fraunhofer IAIS.
