Doreen Govari

Doreen Govari currently serves as the Senior Program Associate for Ending Girls' Incarceration at the Vera Institute of Justice, beginning in September 2024. Prior to this role, Doreen was a Youth Justice Legal Fellow at the National Center for Youth Law from September 2023 to September 2024 and completed a legal internship with the ACLU's Criminal Law Reform Project in the summer of 2022. Doreen's political involvement includes serving as an Assembly District 77 Delegate for the California Democratic Party from March 2021 to March 2022. Educational accomplishments include a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from the University of California, Los Angeles - School of Law, and prior studies at UC Santa Barbara. Doreen also brings experience from various teaching and program roles, including senior English teacher positions in both Thailand and a global English education organization, along with a research intern role at Central Coast Alliance United for a Sustainable Economy.
