Jari Bakken

Jari Bakken has extensive experience in software engineering and development, particularly within the fields of data journalism and web technologies. Currently serving as a Newsroom Engineer at VG - Verdens Gang AS since April 2015, Jari has focused on data journalism and the development of newsroom tools utilizing JavaScript technologies such as Node.js and React/Next. Previously, as Lead Engineer at Faktisk.no from December 2016 to March 2020, Jari built a fact-checking website. Additional significant roles include Lead Developer for the Norwegian parliamentary watchdog website Holder de ord, contributions to Selenium and Watir projects as a core contributor, and serving as a Senior Test Engineer at FINN.no. Jari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz and Improvised music from the Norwegian Academy of Music, completed in 2006.
