Richard Schmidt, M.D., is considered one of the world’s leading experts in neuro-urology and is the author of 118 peer-reviewed articles on voiding function and pathology. He is the co-inventor of the Medtronic InterStim and conducted much of the developmental work on methods for using Botox for urologic dysfunctions. Dr. Schmidt served on the Editorial Board of Neurology and Urodynamics, the journal of the International Continence Society, and Chaired the 1999 International Continence Society Meeting. He is Former Professor of the Department of Urology at the University of San Francisco School of Medicine and of the Division of Urology at the Colorado School of Medicine and has trained 25 research fellows. Throughout his 40-year career Dr. Schmidt has maintained an active urology practice.
