Natalie Allen is currently a Board Member at Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities. Prior to that, they were the Chief of Staff, Communications and Community Engagement at Kansas City Public Schools from July 2016 to October 2018. Natalie was responsible for general staff administration under the direction of the Superintendent and monitored and ensured alignment of all work and initiatives with the school division’s strategic plan and direction. Natalie also planned, organized and directed work of the executive staff to implement superintendent's vision, ran the communications department and helped oversee the division's equity initiative, including the adoption of a comprehensive equity policy.
From October 2013 to July 2016, Natalie was a Communications Specialist II at Baltimore County Public Schools. In this role, they created a weekly e-newsletter, managed all social media outlets including Twitter, Facebook, flickr, instagram and news blog, and marketed the school system through an ongoing marketing campaign. Natalie also helped individual departments with marketing strategies for new initiatives, designed web sliders, logos, flyers and other publications for the school district, event planned for events such as Teacher of the Year, took photos and video of events around the district to include on the website and in publications, wrote and edited news releases and media advisories to send out to media contacts, worked with the district's TV station (BCPS-TV) to produce high-quality programming and increase viewership, managed business partnerships, and managed employee recognition program.
Natalie Allen graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies. Natalie then went on to earn a Graduate Certificate in Equity and Excellence in Education from McDaniel College.
