Allison Smith

Allison Smith is a skilled cartographer with extensive experience in geographic information systems (GIS). Currently serving as Lead Cartographer at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership since August 2015, Allison specializes in creating high-quality cartographic products to support economic development initiatives in Virginia. Previous roles include GIS Specialist and GIS Technician at the National Park Service, where Allison contributed to both independent projects and team efforts to deliver interpretive programs. Earlier experience as a GIS Intern at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership involved updating datasets and producing cartographic materials. Additional internships at Kinsale Insurance focused on property and regulatory compliance areas. Allison holds a Master's of Science in Cartography and Geographic Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Science in Geography from James Madison University.
