His primary role is to build cross-functional working relationships to achieve integration and alignment with internal and external partners. Dr. Hillstrom is a Mayo Clinic-trained physician who spent his career developing and managing companies in the healthcare arena, as well as non-medical ventures in Internet advertising, electronic advertising technology, and the entertainment industry. As a consultant to healthcare companies nationwide, he advised state and federal government leaders on healthcare reform. He has also acted as a healthcare operating partner for a hedge fund and has been a principal in merger & acquisition transactions.
In 1988, Dr. Hillstrom successfully pioneered one of the first national management services organization (MSO) for physicians, while still a resident at Mayo Clinic. He also founded several successful, physician-driven organizations and served on many boards, including the Board of Governors of the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics, The Board of Governors of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and The Mayo Clinic Joint Conference Committee. Dr. Hillstrom received his B.A. magna cum laude in psychology from The University of Minnesota, and his M.D. from The University of Minnesota Medical School.
