James Helm

James Helm has over 25 years of experience in developmentally supportive care in the NICU and developmental follow-up as an Infant-Family Specialist at WakeMed, where service commenced in 1984. Additionally, James has been involved with the NIDCAP Federation International since its founding in 2001, serving as Vice President for Administration and chairing key committees. Previous experience includes a role as an Infant-Family Specialist at VON from 2010 to 2015. James holds a PhD in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MA in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from The George Washington University, and a BS in Psychology from William & Mary.
