John serves as the Director of Advisory Services at Eaton Vance WaterOak Advisors in Boston, where he counsels high-net-worth families and not-for-profit endowments on portfolio allocation and implementation. He began his professional career as a trusts and estate attorney, advising clients on a broad array of topics, including charitable giving, the retention of family properties, tax residency, and fine arts. Prior to his work in law and finance, John spent his earlier years immersed in the arts. He trained to be a concert pianist until the age of 22, graduating from the Conservatoire royal de Musique in Brussels, Belgium. After obtaining an A.B. from Princeton University, he pursued doctoral studies in the history of art at Yale as a University Fellow. He has written a screenplay and, most recently, a memoir entitled While the Music Lasts.
