Laura Chittenden

Laura Chittenden is a highly experienced professional in global health and development, currently serving as the Country Director at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research since November 2024. Previously, Laura held the role of Lead Global Health Security Advisor at USAID, where responsibilities included representation in interagency technical working groups and coordination during disease outbreak responses. Laura's extensive background features roles such as Program Analysis and Operations Advisor at Dexis Consulting Group, Deputy Country Director and Country Director at Walter Reed, Zika Technical Advisor for the Latin America and Caribbean Region at USAID, and interagency coordination at the U.S. Department of State for PEPFAR in India. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Tennessee, an MBA in Strategy from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Old Dominion University.
