The Washtenaw County Road Commission is responsible for maintaining a road system that is reasonably safe and convenient to the traveling public. The agency is governed by a five-member Board of County Road Commissioners. 

Duties of the agency include winter maintenance, road and bridge construction, road repair & maintenance, signal and sign maintenance and ditch & drainage maintenance.
