Kara M. Burns

Kara M. Burns is an accomplished veterinary professional with extensive experience in veterinary nutrition and education. Currently serving as the Director of Veterinary Nursing Development at WellHaven Pet Health since May 2021, Kara also operates as an Independent Nutritional and Healthcare Team Wellness Consultant, enhancing team knowledge on nutrition across multiple species. Additionally, Kara functions as a Nutritional Consultant for The Lafeber Company and serves as the Editor in Chief for Today's Veterinary Nurse under the North American Veterinary Community. As the founder of the Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Technicians, Kara has significantly advanced the field of veterinary nutrition. Past roles include instructor at VetMedTeam, nutrition trainer at PetED Veterinary Education, and past President of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA). Kara holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maine and has degrees in Exercise Physiology and Education/Psychology from Ithaca College and the University of Maine, respectively.
