Sheldon Stopsack is Wētā FX's VFX Supervisor on Director Chris McKay’s science-fiction action movie, The Tomorrow War.
Co-VFX Supervisor on Gemini Man (2019), Sheldon led Wētā’s development of breakthrough facial technology used to create the entirely digital young Will Smith and a new industry standard for CG human characters. He brought to Gemini Man experience supervising visual effects on Terminator Genisys (2015), where he led the pioneering creation of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s photo-real younger digi double.
Sheldon was VFX Supervisor on the Academy Award winner Roma (2018), leveraging both his technical expertise and refined aesthetic sensibility to create the visual effects integral to this film’s celebrated beauty.
As CG Supervisor at MPC, Sheldon led 3D teams on effects-heavy blockbusters such as Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), X-Men: Days of Futures Past (2014) and Total Recall (2012). He was also heavily involved in The Lone Ranger’s (2013) groundbreaking contribution to the ACES colour space. Sheldon rose up through lighting and look development to take on lead roles for films such as X-Men: First Class (2011), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011) and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010).
