Marine Litter And Microplastic Expert - Reunion Island Represent at WIOMSA

Margot THIBAULT is a marine litter and microplastic expert currently representing Reunion Island at the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) since 2019. With a strong academic background in marine biology and tropical marine biology, Margot has led various projects focused on plastic pollution and marine litter, including serving as Project Head for the Marine Litter Monitoring Madagascar project. Ongoing doctoral research at Université de La Réunion explores plastic pollution in the Indian Ocean subtropical gyre. Margot has also been involved in oceanographic expeditions, collaborated with organizations like The Ocean Cleanup, and participated in awareness initiatives for zero waste in Reunion Island.
