Veronique Lacapra

Veronique LaCapra is the Director of Special Projects for Advancement at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, a position held since March 2016, where responsibilities include senior advising, high-profile project management, and content creation to support WHOI's mission. Prior to this role, Veronique worked as a science writer and multimedia producer at WHOI and held reporting positions at NPR, St. Louis Public Radio, and Voice of America, focusing on science, environment, and health. Previous experience includes serving as a pesticide regulator at the US EPA and a researcher with the Environmental Defense Fund. Educational achievements include a Ph.D. in biogeochemistry from UC Santa Barbara, a Bachelor's degree in ecology and environmental policy from Cornell University, and a certificate in French civilization from The Sorbonne. Veronique emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all work endeavors.
