Jörgen Sandström

Jörgen Sandström is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in industrial transformation, sustainability, and international relations. Currently serving as the Head of Transforming Industrial Ecosystems at the World Economic Forum since September 2018, Jörgen oversees eight teams focused on energy transition, decarbonisation, and sustainable business models. Previously, Jörgen held the role of Head of the Mining and Metals Industry, addressing critical sector challenges in collaboration with senior executives. Jörgen's prior leadership experience includes serving as Chief Operating Officer for a biotechnology and renewable energy company and Executive Officer for Addax Bioenergy S.A., where Jörgen led a groundbreaking bioenergy project in Africa. Jörgen also has a diplomatic background, having worked within the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in various capacities, including managing trade relations in Moscow and contributing to international migration efforts at the United Nations. Jörgen's education includes advanced degrees in Political Science, Military Security, and specialized training from the Swedish Defence University.
