George Esunge Fominyen

George Esunge Fominyen is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in the humanitarian and media sectors. Currently serving as Deputy Director at the World Food Programme since July 2012, Fominyen leads communications and media teams to enhance WFP's reputation as a proactive partner in combating hunger and malnutrition globally. Previous roles at WFP include Chief of Global Media and Regional Head of Communications for Western Africa, where strategic media engagement and advocacy were central focuses. Fominyen's background includes reporting for Thomson Reuters on crises and governance issues in West Africa, managing multimedia projects at Panos Institute, and providing political analysis at the British High Commission in Cameroon. With a Master's degree in Sustainable Peace and additional education in media and communications, Fominyen possesses a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of media engagement and advocacy.
