Dr. Sulaiman Alajel

Joint Fao/who Expert ON Microbiological RISK Assessment (jemra) at World Health Organization

Dr. Sulaiman Alajel is an accomplished expert in microbiological risk assessment, currently serving as a Joint FAO/WHO Expert on Microbiological Risk Assessment (JEMRA) at the World Health Organization since April 2023. With extensive leadership experience at the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) as Executive Director of Reference Laboratories and Strategic Project Manager, Dr. Alajel is a pivotal member of the Scientific Committee. Additional roles include National Antimicrobial Resistance Focal Point for Saudi Arabia representing the FAO, and a consultant for the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. Dr. Alajel holds a PhD in Molecular Bacteriology & Infection from the University of Copenhagen and has participated in various significant research projects, including a visiting researcher role at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Educational credentials also include a Master's degree in Life Sciences & Biotechnology from Glasgow Caledonian University and a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from King Saud University.
