Markus Jelitto

Counsellor, Trade In Services Division at World Trade Organization

Markus Jelitto serves as a Counsellor in the Trade in Services Division at the World Trade Organization (WTO) since October 2013, after previously holding the position of Trade in Services Advisor for the Southern African Development Community (SADC). In this current role, Markus coordinates WTO assistance on trade in services and addresses the implementation of the LDC services waiver. Markus also has experience as Team Leader for the SADC Trade in Services Project from November 2010 to August 2013, where advisory work focused on the SADC Trade in Services Protocol and capacity building for member states. Earlier experience at the WTO from 1996 to 2010 involved responsibilities in the Market Access Division and Trade in Services Division, covering various aspects of trade negotiations and regulatory issues. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a law degree from Goethe University Frankfurt.
