Mark Johnston

Mark Johnston is a software engineer with extensive experience in developing innovative solutions across various organizations. Since January 2014, Mark has been employed at Yelp, enhancing software functionality. Prior experience includes a consultancy role at Idibon, where Mark created a geolocation service for visualizing natural language data, and a software developer position at Columbia University, focusing on mobile data collection systems. From 2007 to 2010, Mark contributed to UNICEF's Innovation unit, notably developing the award-winning RapidSMS platform for SMS data collection. Earlier positions include a computer engineering co-op at Critical Link LLC, where Mark developed a test environment for FPGA design, and a software engineering co-op at L-3 Communications, which involved porting a graphics engine to Linux. Mark holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Computer Science from New York University and has completed coursework at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
