José started his career as a web developer, slicing PSD to HTML more than a decade ago. Completely self-taught, he learned HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ahem, jQuery) to satisfy his clients’ needs, whom he worked for as a web and graphic designer. This led him to fall in love with programming and loathing Adobe Flash, like everyone else at that time.
Since then, this knowledge has led him to achieve his first opportunity as a remote front-end developer for a US company focused in developing training courses about enterprise security awareness and compliance, work for a Mexican design agency developing solutions for some of the country’s most important enterprises in the agriculture and food production area, and work as a freelance specialist with clients worldwide, designing and developing websites via WordPress and/or HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript.
Currently, his interests and efforts are directed towards building a better Web — because he believes everyone is entitled to enjoy it and take part in it— writing semantic and accessible code, trying to contribute to open source projects to give back even if it’s just a small part of what he learned from the developer community, learning about new technologies and frameworks, and improving and expanding his knowledge and skills in WebGL and web animation.
