Sisco van Veen

Sisco van Veen has extensive work experience in the field of psychiatry and mental health. Sisco currently works as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Amsterdam UMC, where their research focuses on physician-assisted death for patients with psychiatric disorders. Prior to this role, Sisco worked as a PhD candidate at the same institution, conducting research on euthanasia based on psychiatric suffering.

In addition to their academic work, Sisco has also held positions at various organizations. Sisco worked as a Researcher at 113 Zelfmoordpreventie, a mental health organization specializing in suicide prevention. At GGZ inGeest, Sisco served as a Psychiatrist, providing mental health services. Sisco also worked as a Podcast Editor at Psyfar and as a Medical Doctor at Mentrum.

Sisco has been actively involved in the De Jonge Psychiater organization, serving as a Board Member, Editor In Chief, Deputy Editor In Chief, and Editor. Sisco was responsible for the management and development of their website, www.dejongepsychiater.nl.

Sisco's educational background includes a Psychiatry residency at UMC Utrecht and a medical degree from Mentrum. Overall, they have a wealth of experience in psychiatric research, clinical practice, and editorial work in the field of mental health.

Sisco van Veen's education history started in 2001 at Het Baarnsch Lyceum, where they pursued Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs and completed their high school education in 2007. Following this, they attended Utrecht University from 2007 to 2014, specializing in the field of Medicine and obtaining a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

Apart from their formal education, Sisco van Veen also obtained the certification "De Balie Studio - leergang 6" from De Balie in May 2020.
