Nick Read

Nick Read has extensive work experience in the telecommunications industry. Nick started their career at Econet Wireless Zimbabwe in 1996 and held various engineering and IT positions, eventually becoming the Chief Technical Officer. Nick moved to New Zealand in 2002 to work on the Econet Wireless NZ project, focusing on network and business planning. In 2003, they joined Siemens AG as a Programme Manager, managing the implementation of projects in the Mobile and Fixed Telecommunications area. Since 2006, they have been working at 2degrees, initially as the Chief Engineer Core and Operations, responsible for the planning and development of the Core Network. Nick then held roles as the Head of Core and Transmission, Head of Core and Security, and Head Of Security before assuming their current position as Head of Security Operations. Throughout their career, Nick has been involved in strategy, planning, development, and implementation of security policies and operations.

Nick Read received their BScEng (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe in the period from 1986 to 1989. Nick later pursued an MSc degree in Mobile and Satellite Engineering from the University of Surrey, which they completed between 1998 and 1999. Additionally, they obtained the certification for ISO27001:2022 Information Security Management/Lead Auditor from the BSI Training Academy in 2023.
