Mitra Tavakkoli, MD, PharmD has a strong background in clinical development and molecular therapeutics. Mitra is currently working at 4D Molecular Therapeutics as the Therapeutic Area Head for Cardiovascular & Nephrology and Vice President of Clinical Science. After several years of practice, Dr. Tavakkoli returned to school to further expand their knowledge and skills.

In 2008, they enrolled at the University of Maryland Baltimore, where they focused on Pharmacy. Over the course of four years, from 2008 to 2012, they completed their Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. This program provided their with a solid foundation in the field of pharmacy.

Following the completion of their PharmD, Dr. Tavakkoli embarked on a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Clinical and Industrial Drug Development. From 2012 to 2014, they conducted research and advanced their understanding of drug development at UMB/Medimmune.
