Christian Hankel attended Rockhurst High School from 1982 to 1986. Following high school, they enrolled at Rockhurst University in 1986, but it is unknown if they obtained a degree or field of study during their time there. From 1987 to 1991, Hankel attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Later, from 1998 to 2001, they returned to the University of Missouri-Kansas City and earned another Bachelor of Arts degree, this time in Computer Science.
