Kevin Hartz is a seasoned entrepreneur and venture capitalist, currently serving as Co-Founder and General Partner at A*, an early-stage venture capital firm since December 2020. Hartz co-founded and held leadership positions at Eventbrite from October 2005 to March 2024, including CEO and Chairman. Hartz was also a Venture Partner at Founders Fund from September 2016 to June 2018 and a founding member of Xoom, which went public in 2013 and was acquired by PayPal in 2015 for $1.1 billion. Before that, Hartz co-founded Outlook Ventures, focusing on early-stage enterprise software startups, and co-founded Connect Group, which provided high-speed Internet access to the hotel industry, later acquired by Lodgenet. Hartz began their career as a Product Manager at SGI, overseeing the Cosmo Player virtual reality browser. Hartz holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in History and Applied Earth Science from Stanford University, and a Master of Studies in History from the University of Oxford.
