Mashell Sourjohn serves as the Associate State Director of Community Outreach at AARP since April 2012, responsible for recruiting, training, and managing over 200 volunteers to advance the organization's social impact and mission. Sourjohn has forged strong partnerships with more than 50 organizations, tribal nations, and government entities, enhancing organizational visibility and delivering AARP programming. Prior experience includes various leadership roles at the American Heart Association, including Interim Senior Advisor for American Indian/Alaska Native Outreach and Regional Health Equity Director, where Mashell developed the nationally recognized Go Red For Women Native American Storytellers program. Educational credentials include a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University, a Master of Jurisprudence in Indian Law from The University of Tulsa College of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma.
