Wei Zhou

Wei Zhou has a diverse range of work experience in the field of AI and machine learning. Wei started their career as a Technical Assistant (Intern) at Qinchuan Machinery Development Co., Ltd in 2012. After completing their Master's degree, Wei worked as a Data Annotator at Seeing Machines, where they contributed to the development of AI systems for monitoring driver attention. In 2016, they joined the Australian Centre for Field Robotics as a PhD student, focusing on semantic segmentation for autonomous vehicles. During their time there, they also worked as a casual professional staff member, where they developed a method for automatically generating ground truth information for road condition prediction using CNN models fused with IMU and GPS data. In 2020, Wei joined Presien as an AI Engineer, where they worked on cutting-edge technologies to improve safety in the construction industry, including AI research, system design, and development. Most recently, they have joined Abyss Solutions Ltd as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, starting in 2023.

Wei Zhou completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Vision/Machine Learning from the University of Sydney from 2016 to 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from The Australian National University in 2014. Wei Zhou also completed a Bachelor's of Engineering with Honours in Electronic and Communication Systems & Mechatronic Systems from The Australian National University in 2012-2013. Wei began their educational journey by acquiring a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Automation Engineer Technology/Technician from the Beijing Institute of Technology in 2009-2012.
