Melissa Hile

String Orchestra Teacher at Académie Lafayette

Melissa Hile is an accomplished cellist and educator with extensive experience in music performance and teaching. Since November 2009, Melissa has been the cellist and manager of Melissande String Ensembles. Additionally, Melissa serves as a Music Teacher at The Schoolhouse and as a String Orchestra Teacher at Academie Lafayette, both roles established in 2012 and 2014, respectively. Melissa has also provided private lessons for cello and double bass since 2008 and has been a self-employed freelance copy editor since 2004, specializing in editing scientific and scholarly manuscripts. As a performer, Melissa plays cello and double bass for the Lee's Summit Symphony and previously performed electric bass and vocals with the band the Somebodies from 2011 to 2013. Melissa’s contributions to the community include coordinating fundraising efforts for domestic violence shelters through Chamber Music for Change. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from the Eastman School of Music, complemented by early studies at Wichita State University and Shawnee Mission North High School.
