Senior Manager - Global Product Strategy at Accuray

Sergio Quijano Plata has a diverse work experience in various industries. Sergio began their career at ArcelorMittal, where they worked as a Mechanical Engineering Intern, focusing on developing statistical models to predict the fatigue limit of steels for the automotive industry. Sergio then joined Materialise as an R&D Biomechanics Engineer, leading the validation of a finite element code for patient-specific cranio-maxillofacial implants. Sergio then worked at Arts et Métiers ParisTech as an R&D Project Manager, specifically in the Laboratory of Biomechanics, where they contributed to research and development projects.

In 2013, Sergio joined EOS imaging as a Global Clinical Project Manager, responsible for driving the clinical strategy of orthopedic planning software and services. Sergio then worked at Envista Holdings Corporation as a Global Product Manager in Digital Solutions, leading the product vision, go-to-market strategy, and development roadmap for dental software and cloud services.

Currently, Sergio is at Accuray, where they serve as a Senior Manager in Global Product Strategy. In this role, they lead the Installed Base and Lifecycle programs globally, focusing on radiotherapy systems for alternative cancer treatments. Sergio has also worked as an International Product Manager at Accuray, leading and implementing the strategic plan for the Installed Base and Services in Europe, India, Middle East, and Africa.

Throughout their career, Sergio has demonstrated expertise in product management, clinical research, and project management. Sergio has a strong focus on advancing medical technologies to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

Sergio Quijano Plata completed their high school education at Colegio del Sagrado Corazon. Sergio then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Universidad del Norte from 2004 to 2009. In 2007, they also attended Ecole nationale d'Ingénieurs de Metz and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following this, Sergio undertook a Master of Science degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at Arts et Métiers ParisTech - École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers from 2008 to 2009. Continuing their academic journey, they pursued a PhD in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at Arts et Métiers ParisTech - École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers from 2009 to 2013.

In terms of postgraduate education, Sergio completed a Global MBA, specializing in Digital Transformation, Strategy, Diversity & Leadership, at IE Business School from 2019 to 2020. Sergio also participated in the GIW Entrepreneurship immersion program, which is an MBA program offered by IE Business School in collaboration with Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in 2020.

Aside from formal degrees, Sergio obtained several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Sergio completed the "Machine Learning with Python" certification from IBM in July 2022 and the "Unconscious Bias" certification from LinkedIn in May 2022. In November 2021, they obtained the "Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)" certification from Scrum.org. Additionally, Sergio completed the "Machine Learning" certification from Stanford University in May 2021. Sergio also earned the title of "Lifetime member" of Beta Gamma Sigma, an academic honor society, in December 2020. Prior to this, they obtained certifications including "Problem Solving Process (PSP)" in June 2018, "SQL for Data Analytics" in June 2017, and "CAPA Management" in November 2016, all from Danaher Corporation.
