Aamra Ahmad

Aamra Ahmad is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in criminal justice reform and civil rights. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Attorney and Senior Policy Counsel at the ACLU since January 2021, Aamra advocates for federal criminal justice reform in Congress. Prior roles include serving as Sentencing Resource Counsel at the Federal Public Defender, Legislative Counsel for U.S. Representative Robert C, and Assistant Federal Public Defender, where Aamra led jury trials and represented clients in various federal cases. Aamra began a legal career as an Associate at Terris, Pravlik & Millian LLP, focusing on civil rights and environmental law, and completed a law clerkship for the Honorable James P. Jones. Aamra holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a BA in English from Wellesley College.
