Melissa Mertz has a diverse work experience spanning several industries.
Melissa started their career as a Parks and Recreation Intern at New Baltimore Parks and Recreation in 2013, where they assisted customers, registered them for programs, and worked on various projects such as creating an adaptive recreational program and planning fundraisers.
In 2014, they worked as a Recreation and Amenities Intern at Sands Resorts, where they gained experience in managing recreational activities and amenities for guests.
Later that year, they became an Event Planning Assistant at Kirkhof College of Nursing, where they assisted the Events Coordinator in planning and executing various events.
In 2015, they worked as an Event Intern at The Wyndgate Country Club, where they assisted the Event Manager in organizing social and corporate events and weddings.
Melissa also served as an Assistant Day Camp Director at Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan in the same year.
In 2016, Melissa took on the role of Program Coordinator at Ronald McDonald House Western Michigan, where they provided managerial support and maintained an atmosphere for families staying at the House.
Melissa also worked as a Business Development Administrative Assistant at Michigan Association of CPAs, assisting the business development department with various tasks and managing a significant department budget.
From 2016 to 2019, they were an Event Producer at Activate Inc., leading experiential programs from conceptualization to execution and serving as the main point of contact for clients.
In 2019, they advanced to the role of Account Manager at Activate Inc., leading a team of experiential producers, designers, and operations staff to develop and execute interactive experiential marketing programs for global brands.
Finally, in 2020, Melissa was promoted to Director of Production at Activate Inc., where they oversee the production of campaigns and ensures high ROI and KPIs are achieved.
Melissa Mertz completed their Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and Public & Nonprofit Administration at Grand Valley State University from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, they attended Fraser High School from 2008 to 2012, although no specific degree or field of study was mentioned. In addition to their formal education, Melissa obtained the Cvent certification in October 2014. Melissa also holds a certification in CPR/First Aid, which they obtained from the Red Cross in June 2015.
