Burcu Bestas

Burcu Bestas is currently serving as a Group Lead at Adaptimmune, overseeing a team of scientists focusing on gene editing approaches for allogeneic cell therapies. Previously, Burcu worked as a Senior Scientist at AstraZeneca, specializing in the characterization of novel Cas9 variants for therapeutic genome editing. With a background in molecular genetics, Burcu's experience includes optimizing mRNA delivery for B cells and working on antisense oligonucleotides for splice-switching therapies. Burcu holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Karolinska Institutet, along with a Master's degree in Biomedical Materials and a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering.
