Heather Gibson has extensive work experience in the field of addiction recovery and program services. Heather currently holds the position of Vice President of Clinical Operations at Addiction Recovery Care, a role they have held since April 2023. Prior to this, they served as the VP of Program Services at The Healing Place from January 2019 to May 2023, and as the Director of Program Services from April 2013 to May 2023. Before joining The Healing Place, Heather worked at the Department of Public Advocacy as a Mitigation Specialist from September 2006 to May 2023. In this role, they were responsible for developing and presenting mitigating circumstances for defendants charged with or convicted of a death penalty crime, conducting interviews and investigations, and preparing reports on mitigating factors. Earlier in their career, Heather was a Practicum Student-Inpatient Counselor at Jefferson Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center from August 2009 to May 2010, and a Practicum Student-Case Manager and Service Coordinator at New Directions Housing Corporation from August 2008 to May 2009.
Heather Gibson obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Political Science, and Criminology from Western Kentucky University. Heather attended the university from 2000 to 2004. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Masters of Science in Social Work with a specialization in Alcohol and Drug Counseling at the University of Louisville from 2008 to 2010.
