Santiago Hors-Fraile

Santiago Hors-Fraile has a diverse work experience in the digital health and technology industry. Santiago is currently the Director of Product at Adhera Health since March 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Salumedia Labs as the Director of Product from November 2019 to March 2021, where they also served as a Product Manager from October 2015 to November 2019. In addition, they were a Digital Health Solutions Manager at Salumedia Labs from August 2012 to September 2015, leading a multidisciplinary team and coordinating the development of global scalable products.

Before joining Salumedia Labs, Santiago worked as an m-Health researcher at Universidad de Sevilla from October 2015 to October 2018, where they designed and implemented a smoking cessation mobile intervention. Santiago also worked as an m-Health developer at Primum Health IT S.L. in August 2012, where they developed an Android solution to link medical devices to a tablet app for patient data input. Prior to that, they served as an e-Health research assistant at Norut IT from February 2012 to August 2012, contributing to a European project aimed at creating a social platform for the elderly.

Santiago's earlier work experiences include roles as a software developer. Santiago worked at Cátedra Telefónica Inteligencia en la Red as a software developer from September 2009 to July 2010. Santiago also worked at Centro Informático y Científico de Andalucía as a software developer in July 2008. At Centro Informático y Científico de Andalucía, they refurbished and updated modules of a web platform for researchers, improving its performance and stability.

Throughout their career, Santiago has demonstrated their expertise in product management, digital health solutions, m-Health research, and software development.

Santiago Hors-Fraile has an extensive education history. Santiago obtained a degree in Ingeniería en Informática Técnica de Sistemas (Computer Science) from Universidad de Sevilla in 2008. Santiago continued their studies at the same university and graduated with an MSc in Computer Engineering in 2012. In 2010, they attended Cranfield University and received an MSc in Computational & Software Techniques in Engineering, specializing in Software Engineering for Technical Computing.

In 2014, Santiago pursued further education in the field of marketing at ESIC Business & Marketing School. Santiago completed a course in Healthcare Digital Marketing. This was followed by their enrollment at Universidad de Sevilla in 2015, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Technology: Industrial and Medical Applications. Santiago continued their PhD studies at Maastricht University from 2016 to 2022, focusing on Health Communication and Health Promotion.

In addition to their academic degrees, Santiago has also obtained various certifications. Santiago completed several online courses, including "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter Tuning, Regularization and Optimization," "Neural Networks and Deep Learning," and "Introduction to Recommender Systems" through Coursera in 2019 and 2016 respectively. Earlier in 2016, they obtained certifications in "The Data Scientist's Toolbox" offered by Johns Hopkins University on Coursera and "Understanding Research Methods" also on Coursera. Santiago pursued a Web Analytics Course at EOI Escuela de Organización Industrial in 2015.

Santiago's interest in gamification is evident from the certifications they obtained. Santiago completed courses such as "Enterprise Gamification" and "Designing Gamification Level 1 & 2" on Udemy in 2014 and 2013 respectively. Santiago also completed "Video Games and Learning," "Creativity, Innovation, and Change," "Online Games: Literature, New Media, and Narrative," "Social Psychology," "Gamification," "Interprofessional Healthcare Informatics," and "Inspiring Leadership through Emotional Intelligence" on Coursera in the years 2013 to 2014.
