Shawn Allred

Shawn Allred is an experienced Electrical Engineer at Advanced Energy since June 2019, specializing in the inspection and testing of distributed energy resources in compliance with national codes and utility standards for Duke Energy and NCEMC co-op utilities. Responsibilities include conducting inspections for solar generation sites, battery storage, and participating in pilot programs for smart inverter technologies. Additionally, Shawn provides technical resources on SEL relay settings, authors relevant articles on electric vehicle technology and solar projects, and engages with the community through expert Q&A. Previously, as an Electrical Engineering Intern at The City of Rocky Mount from May 2017 to May 2019, Shawn designed a digital signage solution and ensured feasibility for transformer loading specifications. Shawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from North Carolina State University, earned in May 2019.
