Gerardo Castaneda

Gerardo Castaneda's work experience starts with their current role as the Chief Technology Officer at Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), where they lead the information technology and data innovation organization. Prior to that, they worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in various roles, including Head of Healthcare Startups Solutions Architecture, Strategic Initiative Leader, and Head of Healthcare and Life Sciences Partner Technology. Before joining AWS, they held executive positions at McKesson, including VP of Engineering, Technology Excellence, and Customer Success, VP of Technology Infrastructure, Data, and Engineering, and VP of Practice and Physician Technology Services. Gerardo also served as CIO at St Joseph's Health System. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Director of IT at Recipe Unlimited Corporation, a Senior Manager at Accenture, and a Department Manager at Procter & Gamble.

Gerardo Castaneda has a diverse education history. Gerardo obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México in 1990. Later, they pursued an MBA in Corporate Finance at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México in 1998.

In 2015, Gerardo earned certifications in Programming Abstractions and Computer Organization & Systems from Stanford University. Furthermore, they became an Extra Fellow of the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation in 2011.

Gerardo then pursued a Master of Liberal Arts degree in Information Management from Harvard University, which they completed in 2018. Currently, they are working towards a Doctor of Technology degree at Purdue University.

In terms of additional certifications, Gerardo acquired the following: Generative AI with Large Language Models and Supervised Machine Learning: Regression and Classification from DeepLearning.AI in 2023, XCS224N - Natural Language Processing with Deep Learning from Stanford Online in 2022, and the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute in 2007.
