Deniz Gonzalez, CFE, CICA, MBA

Deniz Gonzalez has a comprehensive work experience that spans over 18 years. Currently, they are the Head of Internal Audit at Advantage Insurance, a position they have held since January 2023. Before joining Advantage Insurance, Deniz worked at FirstBank as a Corporate Security Manager from May 2021 to January 2023. Prior to that, they held various roles at Banco Santander Puerto Rico, including Internal Control Director from June 2018 to May 2021, Internal Control Sub-Director from January 2017 to June 2018, and Internal Control Manager from February 2016 to December 2016. Earlier in their career, Deniz worked at Scotiabank as a Regulatory and Risk Management Operations Manager from November 2013 to February 2016. Deniz also gained valuable experience at PwC as an Experienced Auditor Associate from September 2011 to November 2013, and at Eli Lilly and Company as an Accounting Associate from March 2008 to March 2011. Deniz started their career at Kevane Grant Thornthon, LLP as an Auditor from October 2006 to March 2008. Prior to that, they had internships at the Department of Veterans Affairs as an Accounting Student Intern from May 2005 to August 2005, and at H&R Block as a Tax Preparer Student Intern from January 2005 to May 2005.

Deniz Gonzalez, CFE, CICA, MBA, has a diverse education history. Deniz obtained their Master of International Business Administration (M.I.A.) degree with a specialization in International Business from the American InterContinental University, where they studied from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, Deniz completed their undergraduate studies in Accounting & Finance at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, where they studied from 2002 to 2007.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Deniz has also obtained several certifications to further enhance their professional skills. Deniz earned the Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA) certification from The Institute for Internal Controls in January 2020. In August 2008, they obtained the Especialista en Planillas certification from the Departamento de Hacienda - Division de regulacion de la practica y educacion contributiva. Furthermore, in March 2011, Deniz obtained the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
