Aaron Layt has over 18 years of work experience in the mining industry. Aaron currently works as an Underground Manager at Aeris Resources Limited since May 2020. Prior to that, they worked at South32 for four years, starting in July 2016. At South32, they held multiple positions including Secondment Project: Cannington Operating Philosophy and Mine Planning Superintendent. Aaron also worked for AWX Mining as an Underground Contractor/Senior Mining Engineer from October 2015 to June 2016. Before that, they worked at Glencore PLC for three years, holding roles such as Technical Services Superintendent, Mine Planning Superintendent, and Senior Planning Engineer. Aaron started their career at Xstrata Copper in 2007, where they held various positions including Scheduling Engineer, Mine Rescue Squadman, Underground Development Supervisor, Underground Production Supervisor, Mine Planning Engineer, and Contracts Coordinator - Mine Development. Prior to their mining industry experience, Aaron worked at Murray's Mining Services as a Manager, and at JLF Group of Companies as an Assistant Accountant. Aaron also briefly worked as an English Teacher at Time English School.
Aaron Layt completed their Bachelor of International Finance at Griffith University from 1996 to 1999. Aaron then pursued a Master of Mining Engineering with a specialization in Mine Management at UNSW from 2008 to 2009.
Additionally, Aaron has obtained several certifications related to mine management. In December 2020, they earned a First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency from the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy in Queensland. In January 2021, they obtained a Site Senior Executive Notice for Underground Mines from the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy in Queensland. Most recently, in November 2021, they acquired another First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency from the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety in Western Australia.
