Ashley Smith

Ashley Smith is the Chief Technology & Innovation Officer at The AES Corporation since 2021. Prior to this role, Ashley held several key positions at Shell from 2017 to 2021, including Director of Business Transformation for the Power & Gas sector, where Ashley led significant transformation initiatives, and General Manager of Strategic Business Development for Renewable Power, focusing on growth and strategic partnerships. Ashley also served as Senior Principal for Shell Ventures, overseeing EU energy transition investment activities. Earlier experience includes serving as Head of Product & Commercial at Centrica and co-founding Centrica Venture Capital. Preceding roles involved working at CT Investment Partners as an Associate and at Franklin Templeton Investments as a High Yield Credit Analyst, alongside technical project management at the Environmental Protection Agency. Educational credentials include an MBA in Clean Technology Management and an MA in International Studies from The Wharton School and The Lauder Institute, respectively, along with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and German from McGill University.
