Joel Amegboh

Assistant Professor Of African Security Studies at Africa Center for Strategic Studies

Joel Amegboh, PhD, currently serves as a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations since July 2023. At the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, Joel has been an Assistant Professor of African Security Studies since March 2018, overseeing portfolios such as Managing Security Resources in Africa, National Security Strategy Development, and Youth, Peace and Security. Additionally, Joel contributes to the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University as Adjunct Faculty, focusing on the Social Dynamics of Terrorism course. Joel's experience includes a role as a team member with the United Nations in 2014, monitoring developments related to the MINUSMA mandate. Academically, Joel holds a Ph.D. in International Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, complemented by a certificate in Education Policy and Program Evaluation from Georgetown University and an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Bridgeport.
