Begna Gebreyes has extensive work experience in the finance and investment industry. From 2000 to 2003, they worked as an Analyst at Banc of America Securities, where they managed numerous financings for large-cap firms across various industries. At Claris Capital from 2004 to 2005, they served as an Associate, executing sell-side engagements and valuations for micro cap firms. From 2005 to 2008, they worked as an Associate Director at CapitalSource, where they sourced investment opportunities and executed investments. At Standard Chartered Bank from 2011 to 2013, they served as an Associate Director, leading deal execution processes. Finally, they joined Africa Finance Corporation in 2014 and has held several roles, including SVP of Investments and Head of Heavy Industries, Telecoms & Technology, overseeing debt and equity investments in sectors across Africa.
Begna Gebreyes completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics at Stanford University from 1995 to 1999. Begna then pursued further education and earned an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business between 2009 and 2011. In 2010, they also attended the London Business School for an MBA (IEP) program. Alongside their educational accomplishments, Begna holds the designation of CFA Charterholder from the CFA Institute.
