David Bourns

David Bourns is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Afya Foundation, a position held since January 2020. Prior to this, Bourns worked at Save the Children US from 2014 to 2020, serving in various leadership roles including Director of Humanitarian Operations, where responsibilities included managing humanitarian supply chains and internal operations. Bourns also held positions such as Director of Humanitarian Portfolio and Business Management, Director of New Business Development, and Country Director for Save the Children, where oversight of project activities and financial reporting was essential. Earlier in the career, Bourns served as Africa Area Operations Manager and Sudan Programs Coordinator, engaging in program implementation and management across various regions. Educational qualifications include a Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tufts University.
