Joaquin Perez-Goicoechea's work experience includes being the owner and principal of AGi architects since 2005. AGi architects is an international design firm that provides comprehensive services in architecture, planning, urban design, interior design, design research, and consulting. Prior to that, they held the role of head of the Amsterdam office at Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos from 2002 to 2005. Joaquin also worked as a research architect at Harvard Planning and Real State Department from 2001 to 2002.

Joaquin Perez-Goicoechea's education history includes obtaining a Master's degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Universidad Politénica de Madrid from 1988 to 1998. From 1994 to 1995, they also pursued studies in Architecture at Technische Universität Darmstadt. Later, they attended Harvard University from 2000 to 2002, where they earned a degree of March ArchII in Architecture. In addition to their formal education, Joaquin Perez-Goicoechea obtained certification as a Passive House Designer from the Passivhaus Institut in February 2018.
