Ian Buckley

Ian Buckley is currently the Community & Partnership Lead at Agnostiq. Prior to this, they worked as the Modelling Lead at the Canadian Securities Transition Office from February 2016 to January 2022. In this role, they were responsible for preparing the Canadian Markets Regulatory Authority (CMRA) to promote financial stability by collecting capital markets data, measuring, analysing & visualizing risks, supporting fundamental research, & coordinating with other financial regulators.

Before their work at the Canadian Securities Transition Office, Ian Buckley was a Senior Financial Engineer at S&P Capital IQ from June 2013 to February 2016. In this role, they were responsible for gathering requirements; writing specifications; prototyping in Excel, F#, C#, & R languages; planning & prioritizing features; working with quant, back-end, desktop & web UI developers on implementation; all aspects of testing: unit, numerical validation, & regression; debugging; & writing documentation. Ian also worked on a recent R&D project to build conditional scenarios for market factors & portfolio P&L conditional on economic forecasts, using R, with Prof Dan Rosen, MD of Risk and Analytics.

Ian Buckley attended Imperial College London, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics. Ian also attended Maiden Erlegh. Ian has two Coursera certifications in Economics of Money and Banking.
